The software
The right platform for modern virtualization
Proxmox Virtual Environment
Proxmox Virtual Environment is a complete, open-source server management platform for enterprise virtualization. It tightly integrates the KVM hypervisor and Linux Containers (LXC), software-defined storage and networking on a single platform. Your noxtec cluster runs on it.
- Virtual machines and containers run side by side on the same servers.
- High availability and live migration: if a server fails, its VMs restart automatically on another one. Running VMs move without interruption.
- Storage as you need it: local with ZFS, shared over NFS or iSCSI, distributed with Ceph.
- Built-in backup and replication, integrated with Proxmox Backup Server.
- Software-defined networking and an integrated firewall.
- One web interface for the whole cluster.
Proxmox Datacenter Manager
Proxmox Datacenter Manager is a centralized, open-source management layer for distributed Proxmox infrastructures. It provides a single control plane for multiple Proxmox Virtual Environment and Proxmox Backup Server remotes across clusters, sites and data centers.
Designed for large-scale enterprise environments, it gives IT teams a complete overview of their distributed Proxmox virtualization infrastructure.
- One real-time dashboard for all connected clusters and nodes.
- Move virtual machines between clusters, even while they are running.
- Useful when you run further Proxmox servers next to your noxtec cluster, for example in your own server room.
- The Basic subscription of your cluster also gives you access to the Datacenter Manager enterprise repository and support.
Proxmox Authorized Reseller
Basic subscription included with every cluster
noxtec is a Proxmox Authorized Reseller. You get the subscription for your cluster directly from us. For every Proxmox question, we are your first point of contact. The Proxmox VE Basic subscription is included in the monthly price of every cluster. It gives your cluster tested updates and security fixes from the Enterprise Repository and access to support from the Proxmox developers.

How your support works
Your request comes to us
By ticket or e-mail to support@noxtec.de, Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 18:00 German time. We usually start working on a ticket within four hours.
Most questions are settled directly
We answer questions on setup, configuration and day-to-day operation ourselves. You never need to know who is responsible behind the scenes.
If needed, with the Proxmox developers
If a problem needs the Proxmox developers, we open the ticket through your cluster’s subscription and stay your contact.
Typical usage scenarios
Who should rent a Proxmox server?
IT departments and medium-sized businesses
If you want to virtualize your own business applications, file services, firewalls, ERP systems or test environments, Proxmox Hosting gives you a dedicated and predictable platform.
MSPs, agencies and DevOps teams
Ideal for multi-VM projects, customer environments, internal tools, CI/CD, Docker host VMs, or container workloads that you don’t want to squeeze onto a single root server.
Migrating away from single servers
If your current setup runs on a single host, with a Proxmox cluster you create more availability, better maintenance windows and significantly more reserves for growth.
Workloads with a German hosting focus
For companies that value hosting in Germany, short distances, personal contacts and clear infrastructure documentation for data protection and compliance.
This is how we start your Proxmox hosting project
Architecture talk
Together we will clarify whether the production or pro cluster suits your project and how many VMs, containers, storage and reserves you realistically need.
Cluster setup
We set up the dedicated Proxmox cluster in the Frankfurt data center and plan the network, storage, VM layout and desired managed services with you.
Migration & Operations
Existing VMs or new workloads migrate cleanly to the platform. You then operate your environment on a clear, scalable cluster basis.
FAQ
Your questions. Our answers.
What is the difference between Production and Pro Cluster?
The Production Cluster is the economical option for stable productive environments. The Pro Cluster offers significantly more CPU reserves and modern DDR5 platforms for larger virtualization projects, more density per node and faster-growing workloads.
Why does noxtec rely on 3 nodes?
For cluster quorum and hyper-converged Ceph setups, at least three nodes are the clean basis. This is exactly why all three clusters are built on 3 identical nodes instead of a single host.
Can I run virtual machines and containers on the cluster?
Yes. Proxmox VE manages both KVM-based VMs and LXC containers from the same interface. This is one of the main reasons why the platform is so well suited to mixed workloads.
Is this colocation only, or does noxtec run the platform too?
Both are possible. You can rent dedicated Proxmox infrastructure or combine additional services such as project support, migration planning and coordinated managed components with us.
Can existing VMs or existing Proxmox inventory be migrated?
Yes. We will check with you what a sensible transition looks like – from individual VMs to existing Proxmox environments. Depending on the initial situation, we plan the migration, downtime window and target architecture together with you.
Where is the data located?
The platform is aimed at hosting in Germany and runs in the Frankfurt data center. This is particularly relevant for companies that consciously rely on German infrastructure and direct lines of communication.
