Location & infrastructure

maincubes FRA1 –
your data center in the Frankfurt area

6 MW of IT capacity across 4,200 m² of IT space, cold aisle containment throughout and up to 40 kW per rack. A purpose-built facility designed as a data center from the start – not a converted office floor. As a DE-CIX-enabled site, your systems sit where German internet traffic already converges.

Why colocation?

Infrastructure you do not have to build yourself

No more server room of your own

Air conditioning, UPS, fire safety approval, access logs and on-call duty at night and at weekends all fall away. Instead of many separate items that are hard to attribute in your own cost accounting, there is one monthly rate.

A level of protection no office building reaches

Aspirating smoke detectors for early fire detection, an automatic gas extinguishing system, a personnel separation system and security staff around the clock. You simply cannot get this approval in your own building – and in the event of damage it is exactly what counts.

Renewable energy on the record

The site runs exclusively on renewable electricity, is ÖkoPLUS-certified and uses KyotoCooling at a guaranteed design PUE of ≤ 1.3. Figures you can use in your own sustainability report.

A personal point of contact

You always speak to the person who looks after your space and knows your hardware. Write to us about what you need – we reply personally, by phone if you prefer.

Easy to get started

In the rack in 3 steps

From the first conversation to installed hardware – we settle space, power and connectivity together before your server leaves the building.

01

Clarify requirements

How many rack units, what power draw, which uplink? We go through your hardware and tell you which package fits – and when one would be too small.

02

Set up space and access

You receive the quote, the contract and your network details. In parallel we set up your access authorisation for FRA1 – including a site visit before you sign, if you wish.

03

Install and go live

Hardware into the rack, power and uplink patched, IP configuration handed over. After that your system runs – and you know who to call if something ever does come up.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions. Our answers.

What is colocation – and when is it worth more than a rented server?

With colocation the hardware is yours, and the data center provides space, power, cooling and connectivity. That pays off as soon as you already own hardware or want to procure it deliberately – for instance because of specific CPU, storage or licensing requirements. A rented server is the simpler route if you would rather not deal with hardware at all.

What will power actually cost me in the end?

You pay 0.40 € excluding VAT per kilowatt hour consumed, on top of the base price – no flat rate that has you subsidising somebody else’s consumption. The maths is simple: power draw in watts × 730 hours ÷ 1,000 × 0.40 €. An efficient 1 RU server drawing 50 W therefore costs around 14.60 € per month, a typical one at 100 W around 29.20 €. The 1.5 kW on the Shared Rack is allocated capacity – billing follows your actual consumption.

What requirements must my hardware meet?

In principle 19-inch equipment with matching rails. The racks measure 800×1000 mm (W×D); we agree on installation depth and rack units in concrete terms beforehand. For the A and B feed we recommend redundant power supplies. Just send us your server’s data sheet – we will tell you whether it fits before you order.

How do I get to my own hardware?

This is the clearest difference between the two packages. With Housing 1 RU, access takes place after online registration. With Shared Rack 25 RU you receive your own access authorisation using a key card, PIN and vein scan. In both cases the data center is staffed with security personnel around the clock.

Can I get additional IPv4 addresses?

Housing 1 RU includes one IPv4 address, Shared Rack 25 RU includes ten. If that is not enough we will provide more – just tell us how many you need and what for, and we will quote the price with your offer.

What happens in a power outage or a fire?

Power at FRA1 is designed 2N-redundant, cooling N+1. For fire, the data center uses aspirating smoke detectors for early detection and an automatic gas extinguishing system. The design has been audited by TÜV Saarland to DIN EN 50600 availability class 3.

Can I visit the data center beforehand?

Yes, gladly. With the Shared Rack in particular we explicitly recommend it: you see the space, the access route and the connectivity before you sign. Just get in touch and we will arrange a date.

Can I move to more space later on?

Yes. The path from Housing 1 RU to Shared Rack 25 RU and on to a rack of your own is open at FRA1 – the site supports up to 40 kW per rack. Let us know early if growth is on the horizon and we will plan the space accordingly.

Your contact

Tell us what goes into the rack.

Whether it is a single rack unit or half a rack: send us the manufacturer, model and power draw of your hardware – or simply the data sheet. You will get a concrete quote within 24 hours, covering package, base price and estimated power costs.
